History at UMD: Delta Phi Epsilon began as Beta Chi, founded at UMD by six students in 1988. On September 11, 1989, Beta Chi received their National Charter as the Alpha Mu chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon.
Fun facts:
-Delta Phi Epsilon was the first non-sectarian sorority founded at a professional school, meaning it had no affiliation with any religious group.
-There are five active chapters in Michigan: at UMD, UM-Ann Arbor, Central Michigan, Northern Michigan and Lawrence Tech.

History at UMD: Four students began Kappa Gamma Beta in 1987. They were chartered as the Rho Beta Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity on December 3, 1989.
Fun facts:
-Phi Mu is the second oldest secret society for women.
-There are four active chapters in Michigan: at UMD, Albion, Central Michigan and Grand Valley State.
-Phi Mu's official name is Phi Mu fraternity because it was founded before the word 'sorority' was commonly used for women's organizations.

History at UMD: Eight students founded Alpha Gamma Omega in fall of 1990. One and a half years later, in the spring of 1992, they were accepted as a colony within Phi Sigma Sigma. On March 6, 1993, they were chartered as the Zeta Omega Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma.

-Phi Sig has over 110 active chapters in the US and Canada.
-There are ten active chapters in Michigan: at UMD, UM-Flint, Central Michigan, Northern Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley State, Oakland University, Siena Heights and Alma College.
